Great turnout for the opening reception of Tony Fouhse’s Live Through This last night at the gallery. Many people have been coming through the doors this week to check out what all the buzz is about. Since his arrival yesterday, Fouhse and Stephanie MacDonald — the subject of these compelling photographs — have been interviewed by The Coast, CBC and the Chronicle Herald, not to mention the feature on Arts East and Halifax Magazine before the show even opened!
We were surprised this morning by the arrival of twelve copies of the Live Through This book, from Straylight Press. After Fouhse and MacDonald signed the limited copies, he explained that the covers are intentionally pure white, so that they will collect marks with time. Thoughtful idea, which seemed to fit with the subject matter and the simple “pinned-up” installation choice.
The artist talk is tomorrow, Saturday June 8, at 2:00pm here at ViewPoint Gallery. Both Tony and Stephanie will be here to talk about this project and answer questions. I encourage you to come down and hear what they have to say. In the meantime, here are a couple shots from this morning. For more info, head to www.viewpointgallery.ca.
